Rod Woodward
Award-winning comedian Rod Woodward began his stand-up career as a studio audience warm-up man for ITV Wales before becoming a finalist in the prestigious So You Think You’re Funny competition at the Edinburgh Fringe. He quickly earned plaudits from comedy legends including Peter Kay and Barry Cryer. Rod went on to write and present the BBC 2W series A Bit Off The Fringe, host his own BBC Radio Wales show Doing It For A Laugh, appear on BBC 1 Wales and win the BBC Wales comedy competition Funny Business.
A major career highlight came in 2014 when Rod performed at the London Palladium before William and Kate on the Royal Variety Performance. He later returned for ITV’s Tonight At The London Palladium, before being invited back to the Royal Variety Performance, this time performing for Harry and Meghan. His career continues to thrive with successful tours, TV appearances and a growing presence in the film industry, with several of his feature-length scripts now in production.
Rainy Day Trust is the industry charity supporting people working in home improvement, construction and building materials.
For over 180 years, we’ve supported people across this sector when life suddenly derails… money worries, a family crisis, mental health challenges, or physical illness… we’re there.
Suicide is the leading cause of death for men under 50 in the UK, and in construction, that risk triples. We’re here for the moments no one plans for and increasingly, we’re working to reach people sooner.
Every person in this industry, from site to boardroom, is part of what we protect.
Thank you for supporting us tonight.
