Alex Naraian is a Chartered Architectural Technologist, and CIAT’s 28th President. A committed contributor to academia, he was awarded an Honorary Fellowship of Southampton Solent University in July 2016.
Architectural technology of the highest standards achievable for whatever budget is of the utmost importance to him. He has experience of delivering projects, ranging from one off residences, listed buildings to multi-units, mixed use, leisure, commercial, retail and educational buildings, working with both private clients and developers.
An expert in delivering complex projects to exacting standards and with a collaborative approach, particularly in the ‘high end’ market. Alex holds a large and desirable network.
He has expertise in classical and traditional architecture and also embraces modern architecture styles.
With key strengths in contract administration, team and project management, client representative, technical design solutions, current legislation, process improvement, programming, communications, shell and core design and delivery, architectural interiors and external engagement.
He is committed to gender balance, equality and inclusivity and for this is an industry ambassador.
With a number of years’ experience in the industry he has developed a broad range of highly desirable and sought-after skills.
Previously he has served as Councillor and Chairman for the South-East Region of CIAT and was instrumental in developing its previous and current five-year Strategic Plan as a member of its Executive Board.
He has sat on various CIAT Accreditation panels for universities offering Honours Degree programmes in Architectural Technology and is an Honorary Fellow of Solent University.
He continues to speak publicly on a variety of industry related subjects in the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Asia at universities, exhibitions and events, such as UK Construction Week and Homebuilding and Renovating Show, FutureBuild, London Festival of Architecture to name a few. He has also sat on steering groups for leading exhibitions and as an author, his articles continue to be published in various industry publications.
He has been a judge for the WICE Awards, APS Awards and is a judge for this year’s Building Innovation Awards also.
